Painter´s Sonata - Petr Hejný

10. červenec 2013

Petr Hejný composes for the instrument he masters: the cello. In his music, the experience with the technical potential of the instrument and its timbre possibilities is clearly reflected.

The Painter´s Sonata was written – its first movement CHAD, to be precise – in 1997 for the occassion of the vernissage of Václav Chad´s exhibition in Litoměřice, where it was also first performed by the author himself. Years later, Hejný added two more movements, whose themes are based on the names of two other famous painters – DEGAS and HEDA.
