Birth - Jan Kučera
"The composition Birth is a part of scenic music for Spitfire Company and their performance 13th month.
An inseparable part of this expressive dance theatre was a live performance of a string quartet Epoque Quartet for which I have been writing and arranging compositions since it was founded. The quartet plays one of my miniatures at almost every concert.
The Birth flows in a minimalistic pulsating rhythm above which a simple and gradual line appears now and then.
I also composed a version for string quartet and orchestra that was comissioned by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. It was premiered on 1 February 2016 in Smetana Hall of the municipal House in Prague."
