Double Concerto for Harp, Oboe and String Orchestra - Emil Viklický

"The harpist Ms Jana Boušková and the oboist Mr Jan Adamus asked me some time ago to compose a harp and an oboe concerto for them. They both know that I enjoy playing with my jazz trio, so they expressed a wish for the piece to contain "jazz elements". I was as improvident as to agree.

In the meantime, I wrote a great deal of all kinds of other music and I managed to learn something from fair harpists about the "royal instrument". Jan Adamus has been playing my "modern" compositions for oboe since the end of the eighties. In the end, an idea occurred to me to merge the two long promised concertos into one double concerto. But what really made me start working were consultations with Jana Boušková: The idea of using pedal glissandos in the middle "blues" part was too alluring to resist."
