Radio Prague International and the Czech Centres Network Launch Czech Next Wave, a New Podcast in English

7. říjen 2020

Czech Next Wave will bring interviews with interesting young Czech people of various professions who, due to their originality, creative work and activity, made it big both in the Czech Republic and abroad. They have the potential to become future opinion leaders or ambassadors of the Czech culture and science appealing to the general public as well as the expert community.

This podcast series, which will be published on a three-day basis, will start by an interview with Albert Černý, a musician and frontman of the Lake Malawi band. Ian Willoughby, who is also the presenter of the well-established podcast Prague Talks, will hold the interviews.

“For me, recording these relatively long interviews with talented young Czechs is a new and exciting opportunity. There is so many people aged below 40 who are doing interesting things in various areas of the arts – and beyond, of course – and the opportunity to share their stories with people all over the worlds means a lot to me. By the way, the podcast music was made by Ondřej Pivec, a master of the keyboards, whom I interviewed in New York some years ago, so this is great, too.”

The podcast will be distributed on all platforms such as iTunes, Spotify and Google Podcasts. It will be receiving media support through the social network of Czech Centres and Radio Prague International.

Thanks to the long-term cooperation between Radio Prague International (RPI) and Czech Centres, the Czech Republic is becoming ever more visible abroad. Following a recent successful presentation of the project Czech Heroines, in which also the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen was involved, Czech Next Wave is yet another format on which these two institutions work together.

Moreover, the heads of the individual Czech Centres abroad are permanently in touch with the RPI services of the given territories, so that Radio Prague International informs in its broadcasting about interesting Czech events held abroad and brings interviews with prominent local personalities connected to the Czech culture and society.
