Jan Klusák

composer (born 1934)

Jan Klusák after the final exam at the grammar school studied composition at the Music Faculty of AMU in Prague under Professors J. Řídký and P. Bořkovec (1953-1957). Since his graduation he is devoted to his occupation - composition. He lives in Prague, is an author of chamber, orchestral, vocal music, operas and ballets as well as film music. The nature of his work has developed from his admiration towards neoclassicism and its great figures (I. Stravinsky, B. Martinů, P. Hindeemith, A. Honneger, S. Prokofiev, I. Krejčí, P. Bořkovec) through the strong impact the Schönberg school had on him (including A: Berg and A. Webern) towards his own style.
