Czech Radio as the Host Broadcaster of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship 2009
This year´s FIS Nordic World Ski Championship has been held in Liberec, city in the nothern part of the Czech Republic, from the 18th of February to the 1st of March. The radio and TV broadcasting from the event was covered under a contract agreed by the EBU. Czech Television and Czech Radio, as the main sports and public broadcasters in the Czech Republic, and both Active Members of the EBU, accepted the role of Host broadcasters. This involved preparing information, along with the Liberec 2009 Organizing Committee, for all colleagues from other rights holders' organizations on the eve of previous winter season. The main project head and coordinator of both host broadcating and the coverage of the event in the radio broadcasting was Petr Souček, Head of Sport News Department at Czech Radio 1 - Radiozurnal. Czech Radio accepted the contact role for foreign radio stations. This role was coordinated and to a great extent faciliated by Helena Eliášová, International Relations Specialist at the International Relations Department of Czech Radio.
FIS Nordic Ski World Championship events were held in four venues:
- Jested for Ski Jumping
- Vesec for Cross Country
- City Centre - Edvard Benes Square (Náměstí Edvarda Beneše) for the medal awarding ceremony
- Tipsport Arena for the opening ceremony
Thus, the three disciplines were:
- cross-country
- ski jumping
- nordic combined

Czech Radio tried to accommodate all requests from foreign radio stations regarding commentary positions, bookings, accommodation, etc.
