9. červen 2011

Czech Radio would like to invite you to its upcoming Open Doors Day at the main premises at the Vinohradská and Římská Streets, Prague 2. On Saturday, June 11th, from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., groups of visitors will have a unique opportunity to see the main buildings of Czech Radio including studios which are otherwise not open to the public. Guides will inform visitors about the past and present of radio broadcasting and about the history and development of the Czech Radio site. All of the tours will be in Czech, other than, for the first time, a guided tour in English at 10.40 a.m.

During the conducted tour visitors will have the opportunity to have a look at studios and meet people who prepare broadcasts, concerts and other accompanying programmes. This is also the first time that general public will be able to see the recently reconstructed studios in the historical building at Vinohradská 12. These studios are at the moment without technical equipment but already have acoustic cladding and a modern design.

Visitors will get to know all Czech Radio stations and also the radio´s endowment fund with its ongoing project called Světluška. Czech Radio 2 - Dvojka has prepared a presentation of live broadcasting, while Czech Radio 3 – Vltava will be presenting music production. There will be also a small exhibition of radio receivers from their inception to the present. The latest digital receivers and their functions will be shown, too.

The Czech Radio shop Radioservis in Vinohradská 12 will be open the whole day.

Guided tours start in Římská 13. For the guided tour in English it is advised to reserve a slot by calling 221 551 322.

Families with children warmly welcome. Just bear in mind that the whole tour takes about 45 – 60 minutes.
