Czech Radio Candidates Selected for Semi-finals at the 2010 New Talent Competition

Czech Radio is pleased to announce that both of its candidates for the 2010 New Talent competition have been selected for the semi-finals. The selected artists are Mr. Michal Sedláček /violin/ and Mr. Daniel Svoboda /clarinet/.

This year the jury received 23 candidacies from 15 organisations. 8 candidates have been selected for the semi-finals (Ulada BERAZHNAYA / Byelorussia, Avan YU / Canada, Michal SEDLÁČEK / Czech Republic, Daniel SVOBODA / Czech Republic, Benedict KLÖCKNER / Germany, Pau CODINA / Spain, Bálint MOHAI / Hungary, Andrej OSOKINS / Latvia).


These 8 semi-finalists will give two chamber music public concerts in Bratislava on Friday, 26 November 2010. These concerts will be offered for live broadcast. The jury will select 3 finalists.

About the competition
The International Forum of Young Performers (IFYP), created in 1969, is a European competition for young musicians organized by the European Broadcasting Union on behalf of UNESCO and the International Music Council (IMC). Since 2002 it has been called "New Talent".
The "New Talent" competition aims to encourage and promote young musicians through radio, by the organization of public concerts that are broadcast by Member organizations of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Candidacies from young musicians can be submitted either by EBU Member organizations or by the national committees of the IMC and European Music Council (EMC).
With effect from 2003, the "New Talent" competition will take place in Bratislava (Slovakia) and will be co-organized by Slovak Radio and the Slovak Philharmonic-Bratislava Music Festival.
