Czech Radio to celebrate the launch of Generation What with a grand street party

14. duben 2016

The launch of Generation What is among Czech Radio’s very special events. The occasion is marked by the opening of a new glass-walled broadcasting studio of Radio Wave, Czech Radio’s youth oriented station, on April 11, and by an open-air street party that will take place on April 16, 2016.

“We are all really happy and grateful to have this new studio opened. We’re looking forward to broadcasting from this beautiful space charged with fresh energy and we’re bringing a few new programmes and new programme scheme features which we have prepared for our listeners on this occasion. They will be worth it,” said Radio Wave’s Editor in Chief Iva Jonášová.

The street party will take place on Saturday (April 16) afternoon; not only in the new Radio Wave studio but also in the adjacent building on Balbínova Street and the spacious modern S1 Studio. A great variety of activities are planned as part of the event. Czech Radio offers free admission to concerts of Hugo Toxx, Načeva, Karaoke Tundra, Lo/ve or Schwarzprior, and much more. Visitors will be able to use our chill-out zone and to try different home-made dishes offered at street stalls.

Rádio Junior, Czech Radio station for the smallest listeners aged 5 -12, is also organising a programme for kids.

The activities planned on the occasion of the Generation What project underscore the significance that Czech Radio continually attributes to young generations. Apart from the Saturday’s event, Czech Radio has launched a series of reports about problems and interests of the young people. There will be seven reports covering the stories of individuals dealing with a certain phenomenon of the present time: decisions about (not) going to university, or internet addiction. The reports have been prepared in different parts of the Czech Republic and will be broadcast starting on May 23.
