Total Global A-Z Mix
66 countries, 66 tracks: as much of the planet as you can fit onto one radio show.
This week’s mix is an ambitious attempt to summarise what the world sounds like in the early 21st century. Obviously that’s an impossible task, but hopefully this is as close as you can get to a genuine global survey in 120 minutes. We’ve got 66 tracks representing 66 of the world’s most exciting music scenes, all mixed together in a series of 2-minute bursts. It’s a global A-Z, running alphabetically from Algeria through to Zimbabwe, and packed with hip hop, electronica, rock, and a dizzying range of hybrid styles and regional variants. It’s streaming on demand right now on the Radio Wave Jukebox archive player: select Friday Ripple from the top menu, and click the show titled 18.11.2011. The full playlist looks like this.
