Czech Radio Project “The Czech Republic of 2022: Life beyond Any Price” Wins the Crystal Magnifier Prize
Czech Radio project titled “Česko 2022: Život k nezaplacení” (The Czech Republic of 2022: Life beyond Any Price) received the first prize in the category of Content Inspiration in the Křišťálová lupa (Crystal Magnifier) Internet poll. At the awards ceremony in the Theatre pod Palmovkou, the prize was given out to the Chief Editor of iROZHLAS.cz, Martin Samek. Podcast “Vinohradská 12” ranked fourth in the Podcast of the Year category.
In its project titled “The Czech Republic of 2022: Life beyond Any Price”, Czech Radio, together with PAQ Research, explores how the record-high energy prices, rising inflation or costly living affect the budgets of the Czech households. In its broadcasting, based on the results of the survey, Czech Radio provides the listeners with helpful suggestions.
“Congratulations to the whole team working on this unique project. In these uneasy times, Czech Radio wants to help its listeners, which is why we decided to describe the situation of the households using exact data so that we can bring relevant information in our service about the extent of the economic crisis. I am very glad that our unique sociological survey brings useful outcomes,” says Director General of Czech Radio, René Zavoral.
Words of gratitude were also expressed by News Service Director, Ondřej Suchan. “We would like to thank the jury of the Crystal Magnifier. We are very happy to receive the prize. We would also like to thank Dan Prokop from PAQ Research, with whom we have been monitoring the situation of the Czech households almost for a year now. I hope the project will be equally useful in the next year, as we want it to continue,” says he.
Other Czech Radio projects were successful, too. In the category of News and Public Affairs, server iROZHLAS.cz ranked fifth. Its project titled “Ověřovna!” (Fact-checking Room) moreover ranked fifth in the Czech Television Award for the best public service. In the category of the Best Podcast of the Year, podcast “Vinohradská 12” ranked fourth.
The winners of each category were selected by an expert jury and the public through voting on the Internet. More than 120 thousand people cast their votes this year.
