Angolan Afrohouse Mix

12. říjen 2012

It is not surprising that Afrohouse music has become an international craze in the clubs being mixed with other forms of music genre. The music dance genre and culture originally from Pretoria, South Africa has spread across the world.

In the most recent years house music has slowly taken center stage in the Kuduro/Kizomba infested Clubs of Angola. Artists, producers and DJs are under pressure from the masses to blend their productions with some ancestral essential house sounds.

Few Angolan DJs/Producers have been able to fuse the traditionally faster Kuduro with the slower house tunes. DJ Silyvi together with Djeff have able to cleverly blend the two genres producing songs like „Tambuleno“ that is also internationally appealing.

As we explored Afrohouse from Angola the show could not be complete without paying our respects to the pioneers of house music. Oskido is South Africa’s top house brand. He is credited for creating the pathway for artists like Mafikizolo, Boom Shaka and Bongo Maffin through his Kalawa Jazmee Record label. Since its release earlier this year „Stokvel“ has favorite on the show. Oskido collaborates with fellow House artists Mahoota, Vetkuk and Professor in a song that is breaking cultural barriers.

Francis Boy originally started out as a Rapper but with changing times his latest song, „Mboyo“ is a blend of Kuduro and Afrohouse. From the information we got from our Angolan listeners, new comers Homeboys are setting trends with songs like „Tchina“ a club house hit that is among the most sort after songs of 2012.

We closed the show with Kuduro crew Hip Hop Family. „Mandombazani“ not only a catchy tune but also an infectious simple dance routine.

If you missed on our great house mix show you can find it in our archive Jukebox.
